The RCS Development Committee focuses on special events and fundraising. We plan to refine and grow RCS's development strategies through the following: membership cultivation and retention; fundraisers; outreach and donor acknowledgement through the RCS Currents newsletter; grants management; major donor solicitations and board recruitment. The Committee is broken down into 'champions' - committee members who have agreed to spearhead each of the development responsibilities.
Goals and projects for 2006 included increased membership mailings and the addition of an annual appeal (a separate mailing in which donors can make donations for specific RCS projects); a Regatta and Fish Fry for mid-June; several RCS River clean-ups to increase community visibility; working with the Executive Director on major donor cultivation; a kayak raffle and a rain barrel sale, and a celebration for the breaching of the Woolen Mills Dam (in 2007).
