The Rivanna Kiosk Network was established by the Rivanna Conservation Society in the early-2000s as a component of the Rivanna Water Trail project.  This project was funded in large part by the Chesapeake Gateways and has served our community by having a location at each put in/pull out for safety, historic and event-related information associated with the specific location of the kiosk. Since then, RCA has been responsible for maintaining the physical structure of the kiosks and updating and upgrading the kiosks’ educational publications. The kiosks provide information to the public about the Rivanna River, the importance of environmental stewardship, and safety tips for canoeists and kayakers. Currently, there are kiosks at the following public boat launches and locations in the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle and Fluvanna: Crofton, Darden Towe, Milton, Palmyra, Riverview Park, Scheier Natural Area and Woolen Mills. Expansion of the Kiosk Network is one of the primary goals of the Rivanna Conservation Alliance for this year.
