SUMMARY:Paddle and Tire Pull in Fluvanna County
DESCRIPTION:Let’s get discarded tires out of the Rivanna River! This tire removal day kicks off the Rivanna River Round-Up season. We hope to be adding more tire pulls and paddling cleanups as we watch water levels over the next month. \nThis paddle will be an out and back in the lower Rivanna River in Fluvanna County\, an area that we have not had a chance to paddle in several years. We will paddle upstream to start and float back with loaded boats. RCA has some canoes to lend\, so please let us know if you need a boat. \nPulling tires is strenuous\, filthy work — but so satisfying to know that you are removing pieces of persistent plastic pollution from our watershed and preventing billions of pieces of micro-plastics from getting into our oceans! \nPlease bring a water bottle\, sunscreen\, river shoes\, and any favorite tire pulling tools you may have (a flat hoe\, crowbar\, etc. is useful but we will have some to loan\, too). \nDetailed directions will be sent after you sign up. The site is about 40 minutes from Charlottesville.
