RCA offers cleanup events throughout the year, including self-guided cleanups, cleanup tracker, and the annual Rivanna River Round-Up watershed-wide community event. Scroll down for more information on each of these programs!

Cleanup Tracker

Cleaning up the trash in our waterways is one of the most important ways that RCA engages its volunteers. To help make this process easier, we have created the Cleanup Tracker! This tool can be used in many different ways.

• Have you recently completed a cleanup? Fill out the survey below and tell us where you picked up trash and how much you found. When you finish, your cleanup will automatically populate on the map.
• Are you looking to get inspired for a cleanup location? Scroll around the map to find spots in need of a trash pickup (denoted by the trash can icons), and see where different groups have already completed cleanups (more recent events are yellow, whereas older events are shown in red).
• Did you recently see lots of trash in a stream or along a trail? Fill out our Trash Sighting Report so we can keep our trash “hotspots” up to date.
• Do you already have a spot where you’d like to do a cleanup? Keep scrolling to learn more about our other tool to help volunteers: RCA’s Self-Guided Cleanup Kits!

Self-Guided Cleanups

In 2020, RCA created a self-guided cleanup program to support volunteers in their own stewardship efforts. Through this program, RCA provides community volunteers with guidance and cleanup kits that contain everything needed to help care for our shared waterways. Kits include:
